You’ve Got Questions,
We’ve Got the Answers!
Q: Why can’t I lift just any heavy object?
What’s the advantage of the sandbag?
A: There are three specific advantages of the Ultimate Sandbag.
- The sand is unstable, so the weight shifts around and this challenges your muscles in unexpected ways
- Multiple handles mean you can train with an almost unlimited variety of exercises
- Thee filler bags allow you to instantly swap weights without losing momentum in your training
Q: Can I just start with a homemade sandbag?
A: Sure you can… How good is your vacuum cleaner?
I thought bag making was easy when I tried it, but I soon got smothered in sand. Fact is, sandbag training is tough on sandbags. Speaking of which — how are your stitching skills? Once you’ve figured how to prevent the sand getting everywhere, you’ll want to sew on handles that don’t rip off. Finally, you’ll need a way to swap different weights of sand in and out of the bag in seconds. That’s as easy as… ordering the Ultimate Sandbag!
Q: Why is the Ultimate Sandbag better than a military duffle bag?
A: It’s stronger, has more handles, won’t scratch your skin and allows you to swap weights. A duffle bag will never give you the versatility of the Ultimate Sandbag (unless you count different ways of sweeping up sand).
Q: Couldn’t you make this product a bit cheaper?
A: Sure. We could give you a sandbag that will fall apart after a few weeks. We could give you a sandbag without the smart handles that make this tool so versatile. We could give you a sandbag that doesn’t allow you to swap weights in seconds. And we could give you all that with no training videos or wall map, so you wouldn’t know how to use it. But then… could we really call it the Ultimate Sandbag?
Q: How do I choose which Ultimate Sandbag to buy?
A: You must understand that the weight of a sandbag can’t be compared with the weight of other equipment. That’s because the work your body does in sandbag training is far tougher. I know power-lifters who can deadlift 700 pounds but found a 120 sandbag to be a heck of a workout. So follow the guide we provide on the site here: Ultimate Sandbag Training Guide
Q: Where can I get the sand?
A: Most hardware stores have 60 pound bags of sand for approximately $3.
Q: What type of sand should I use?
A: Play sand is easy to find and safe. I don’t recommend pea gravel because it can tear up the filler bags. Remember, the only time you deal with the sand is when you first load the bag.
Q: Can I slam the sandbags?
A: Throwing bags is fine as long as you have the appropriate surface to absorb the throw. A mat, grass or even concrete can be OK. In our videos you’ll see me throw a bag over my head and shoulder. Notice that when I do this I am using a mat to absorb some of the force. Slamming is not recommended because that may cause bursting or tearing. Using medicine balls and sledgehammers would be more appropriate for slamming.
Q: Where can I find new sandbag exercises?
A: We’re always discovering new ways to use the sandbag, so keep checking back for the latest video.
